Learn a Language while Volunteering Overseas with Projects Abroad
While you are volunteering on a Projects Abroad placement you have the ideal opportunity to learn a new language as well as immersing yourself in the culture and traditions of your host country.
It’s very rewarding to learn French in Senegal, Arabic in Morocco or Spanish in Costa Rica, while you are living the local lifestyle. Our language courses offer a combination of personally-tailored lessons and daily opportunities for practise. Consequently you will make good progress and may surprise yourself how quickly you are able to grasp a new language. It is certainly far easier than learning back home!
You can take part in 14-hour language courses in:
- Spanish - Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru
- French – Morocco, Senegal and Togo
- Portuguese in Brazil
- Russian – Moldova
- Arabic – Morocco
- Mongolian – Mongolia
- Nepali – Nepal
- Romanian – Romania
Language courses are tailored to your level and run alongside your placement.
The 14-hour course costs £135.
Longer-term Language Courses Alongside Voluntary Projects Overseas
If you’re looking for more in-depth study and are on a placement for at least three months, you could take part in a 60-hour course that runs alongside your placement. The following courses are available:
- Spanish in Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru
- French in Morocco, Senegal and Togo
- Portuguese in Brazil
- Arabic in Morocco
- Russian in Moldova

Full-time Foreign Language Courses with Projects Abroad
We also offer intensive one-month language courses where you focus solely on learning the language. These courses involve 60 hours of individualised tuition, and are particularly useful before you start placements in subjects where some grasp of the local language is of benefit, such as journalism or medicine.
Intensive one-month language projects run in the following countries:
Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Peru, Senegal and Togo.
